Reflecting back on my technological goals:

Reflecting back on my technological goals: I have learned so much about educational applications and ways to utilize them in my future classroom throughout this course! I believe that I have made great gains throughout the semester, but I still have more discoveries to make before fully meeting my personal technological goals! This semester I have learned about a variety of programs and frameworks including TPACK, available websites on the internet, Google applications, Ted Ed, Edpuzzle, Generative AI, and Nearpod! Before this class, I had only heard of some of these programs and used a few of the Google applications. The majority of these resources were new to me, and to be honest they were a little intimidating. After working with them, I feel more comfortable about utilizing them in my classroom to support student learning! Due to being a preservice teacher I have not gotten to use these tools in a classroom yet, but I can assure you that they will be implemented to enhance my...

Generative AI

What is Generative AI? And how can it be used? image citation link: https://trustpoint.one/resource/generative-ai/  Generative AI is “ large AI models, called foundation models, that are trained on large sets of data to learn patterns. It then uses these patterns to predict what word, sound, or pixel would come next in a sequence.” (Google Gemini). I have been apprehensive about using AI. I have always thought that it monitored or tracked what you asked and used your conversations in order to grow its database. For our FOED 6320 class, we had an assignment that allowed us to explore generative AI and how it can be used in the classroom. After this lesson, I have begun to consider using AI more. This assignment helped me realize that it is programmed with a data-base. That is why some information provided by it can be inaccurate because it is now outdated or has changed since being entered into the AI database. AI is an impressive tool that could be utilized in the classroom...

TPACK

What is TPCAK? T echnological P edagogical A nd C ontent K nowledge is a framework that teachers use for effective integration of technology into the classroom. During my research on this topic, I learned that technology classroom tools can be inappropriate in some situations if not utilized properly. TPACK is a useful classroom tool that allows teachers to examine the technology and content they are using. It allows them to see that technology is not appropriate for all students, content lessons, or even in a specific classroom.  Technology can support or sabotage an assignment. It must be used in a proper manner to support a lesson. If not, students will be distracted and lose their focus. Then the teacher has lost control of the lesson and will not be able to instruct the students on how it was intended. When used correctly technology can help create a more engaging classroom. It helps to reach different learning styles of students, allow collaboration, help prepare stu...

My Technology Goals and Expectations

What are my personal technological goals?  I would like to become more fluent with my technology skills. I want to be able to take an educational application and utilize it properly. I have used technology in a variety of ways throughout my educational career - ipads, chromebooks, laptops, and several programs. My goal is to learn about as many devices, programs, and applications available to assist me in the classroom. As a teacher I want to be fluent and be able to teach my students how these advancements can help them. Another goal that I have is to take what I learn from this course and utilize it into my teaching practices. What do I expect to gain from this course? I expect to gain confidence in using a variety of technology in the classroom from this course. I am excited for this class to teach me more applications that I can use in my future classroom. After reviewing the syllabus, I am looking forward to investigating the programs that we will be reviewing each we...
